No More Excuses!: An Almost Too-Practical Guide to Reading Through Your Bible

If you have had the desire to read the books of the Bible and haven't been sucessful, this book is a must. Pam gives you suggestions and options as to how to accomplish it. She knows the barriers that have prevented us from reaching our goal as she has been there too. She categorizes the books in the Old Testament under Law, History, Poetry/Wisdom Literature and Prophesy and in the New Testament under he Gospels, Epistles (letters) and Prophesy. She tells you if they are easy, moderate or difficult reading which really helped me to decide where I needed to start. She has really motivated me and I know that I will suceed this time. God has blessed her with such wisdom and I am so grateful she has shared it with her readers in such an honest way. It is a book that you will always come back to.

I have been reading God's Word for nearly six decades. I have read many and have attempted to utilize many "How to" books in terms of seeking reading strategies. However, as good as my intentions have been, none of them provided a good, down-to-earth guide until now. Pam Gillaspie's new book, "No More Excuses" pulls the rug out (in often humorous ways) from under all the "reasons" people give for not getting into and staying into the Bible. As I read through the book, I would would find myself saying, "O.K. Pam, you have a point there, but what about . . .?" and without exception I would find that my "reason" was revealed for what it really was - an excuse.Pam provides not only strategies for reading God's Word, but includes synopses of the various books of the Bible and rates them as to easy, medium, or difficult reading. Although Pam's focus group of readers is young mother's, I - as a grandfather of four and a lifelong student of the Bible - can attest to the wonderful practicality and readability of Pam's book. I only wish I had access to it many years ago and especially during the years I taught Bible Survey to high school freshmen. I am going to make it a point to bring a copy to the Christian school in which I taught before retiring and strongly suggest that it become a part of the school's Bible curriculum.

This book is the best tool I have found for absolutley having "No More Excuses" Our family reads this book everyday and the practical points that are made are so great.. You can read this and know that other people struggle to read the Bible and understand it.. I am at such a better place in my walk with the Lord because I realize God is not going to BARGAIN with me..I recommend this book to familys and individuals who value their relationship with God and want to see it grow by leaps and bounds..

This book is full of common sense and practical advice on reading through the Bible that, as a busy woman, really appealed to me. If you've ever tried and failed to read all the books of the Bible, Pam Gillaspie's book will inspire you. She brings out different ways to approach and actually do what most of us think of as a huge endeavor that might be out of reach. It's an easy, enjoyable read...simple but deep...and it made me think differently about Bible reading. I think I'll give reading through the Bible another shot!

Whether your brand new to personal devotions or been at it a long, long time - this book presents not only the reasons why we need to spend time with Jesus on a daily basis, but also gives practical advice on the "how to's".It's easy to read and user friendly, especially recommended for the rookie Bible reader!
