FRESH/MOTIVATING INFORMATION

This book tells you exactly what will help you to reach your fitness goals because it is very clear and to the point. It talks about situations we all encounter in our quest for fitness and health. Tawni speaks so openly about her own struggles that I'm sure you can relate. Tawni is honest, warm, articulate and informative. What I liked about the book so much is that it is written by someone like US - not a doctor, dietician, nurse, etc. someone that is at my level when it comes to the weight loss situation. She instantly becomes your best friend. The best part is that it doesn't concentrate on the "d" (diet) word. If you're looking for something fresh and motivating - read the book.

What a woman!

Tawni's book may hit too close to home for some people but for anyone who has that nagging voice in the back of their head telling them they know they feel better when they take care of themselves (so why don't we do it all the time?)- in other words, people who are open to the idea of giving up the comfort of excuses for why they don't make taking care of themselves a priority...this is THE book! It's a must for women who want to hear it from someone who has been there. And unlike lots of books by beautiful women who talk about how to be fit and trim, Tawni really WAS fat and has the courage to show us pictures of her at that point in her life. Don't wait for the paperback (that's just another excuse)

It can change your life!

A great inspirational read! Tawni inspired me to quit 'waiting until I am thin' and start living in the moment. Over the last year I have lost fifty pounds and gone from walking a mile to running for six. My next goal is a half marathon. I NEVER thought that would be possible - I was 'too old' and 'too heavy'. What an incredible idea to be told that it didn't matter, that all I needed was the determination to do it. Set a goal and work towards it , one baby step at a time, and you'll get there. What a joy it is to participate in life instead of just being a spectator. This book will inspire you to believe that you can do more than you ever thought you could. I still have some weight to lose, but I'm on my way with a new attitude toward fitness and myself. My whole life has changed in a dramatic way - yours can, too.

Taking charge - becoming a non-victim

After completing Tawni's book, I realized her book can be used by thousands. Thousands who are, in their lives, victims. Victims who do not have the courage to take charge and change their lives for the better. Yes, Tawni writes about running and exercise, but those are avenues she chose to accomplish her goal of becoming a non-victim. Baby steps, as she talks about in her book, are the necessary tools to go forward in life. Baby step after baby step applied to all facets of life will soon add up to one large step. In her book, Tawni explains how to do this, how to deal with the frustrations along the way and how to reward oneself when reaching a short term goal. She is also very clear that this goal can be accomplished by no one except oneself. Self-help? No, she just presents the information in a way that one can sit back and think and believe........."I CAN do this. I DO believe in myself. And, most of all, it is OK if I take a while to reach my goal. At least I am going forward." As Tawni says in her book, "there is no finish line."

A book of hope --

I loved this book because it not just talked about making lifestyle changes to lose weight and become fit, it showed me how to do it. Tawni Gomes' comments are very practical and personal (there are excerpts from her journal as she was struggling to find what works). She covers topics such as how to stay committed, and finding a pathway to fitness that matches who we are. There is the extra bonus of support available to help alleviate the aloneness that can be felt as we're trying to make new changes in our lives. This book is jam-packed with realistic advice and is very easy to read. I highly recommend it -- especially for anyone who may find it challenging to consistently follow through in their quest for healthier eating and fitness.
