Nine Ways God Always Speaks: Offer Only Available in Certain States

Many of the topics discussed got me thinking more positive about even the worst situations in life.

I was pleasantly surprised when I read this book. This book is refreshingly honest with the authors own questions about "hearing" from God. What qualifies as a supernatural experience? When does the person hearing from God seem a little crazy? Packed with stories from multiple sources, scripture references, and personal experiences, this book avoids a "preachy" tone and seems very down to earth. I really enjoyed the fresh style of short paragraphs and sentences, accentuating the most important points. The ends of the chapters are expertly crafted and the questions posed to the reader really made me think.

Nine Ways God Always Speaks caught my attention immediately. I've pondered life's questions, big and small. I've pondered life's decisions, big and small. I've often wondered if God was speaking, and more importantly, if he was speaking directly to ME. In a way that's real and conversational, Herringshaw and Schuchmann outline the various ways that God speaks. Without being dogmatic or preachy, they illustrate his relationship with people on earth today. And because they have masterfully woven together the first-hand accounts of real people's life experience, the book has a very warm validity. They could have just used scripture or just used personal testimony but because they combined the two into an easy-to-read prose, I finished the book with an understanding that it was possible for me, too, to hear God speak. Maybe one day I'll have a story to tell, and these authors will have to add an appendix of additional testimonies to their book! I long to hear from God, and this book showed me how to tune my ear to his various channels. Thank you for an inspiring and informative book!

Time constraints hinder me from writing a lengthy review. I shall simply say that I looked forward to receiving this book when Tyndale asked that I review it. The book is well written. It is anecdotal. It does not pretend to give a theology of God's speaking. It gives accounts of people who believe that they have heard the voice of God in various ways. I tend to shy away from some of the more sensational seeming things that are said about God speaking to people. Does He speak in dreams? Does God use circumstances? I'm open to those possibilities. The authors write and use experiences from their lives as well as the testimonies of others. In the end, they seek to emphasize that all experiences in which one thinks he/she has heard from God must conform to the Scriptures. I like that. A very interesting book. It is thought provoking. It is enjoyable. I may take it off the shelf and read it again.

These authors have a way of taking real world experience and finding the spiritual message in those experiences. You will love some of the stories they tell that detail how God spoke to a variety of people --- today -- in modern times. This book is entertaining and causes you to pause and think about what God is saying to you.
