easy to digest, practical information

i learned things i didn't know, even after trying to educate myself more about cholesterol for the past 5 years. i was already near my desired weight, but by applying the advice and tracking my daily consumption for a few months, my overall count dropped 20 points (258 to 238) and my LDL dropped 10. my doctor and i agreed to keep at it for another 4 months and see if trend continues. now my wife and kids are picking recipes from the back for us to try at home, so i think there's a good chance i'll see more improvement.

Excellent book for everyone ....

This review is for the book: Living Heart Dietby Dr. William Debakey, et al. This is an excellent book for those who have had heart problems and for those who do not want to develop heart problems. Poor diet (high fat/cholesterol) is one of the main risk factors for heart disease -- excess cholesterol lays a foundation of plaque in your arteries that can eventually cause heart attacks and/or necessitate heart surgery. This book was developed to help us all eat right and help avoide disease. This book contains recipes, education about heart disease, and nutrition and sodium tables for most of the foods you eat. This is an excellent resource! Use it in good health!

Huge Help in Recovery

I purchased this book at the suggestion of a friend while I was recovering from Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery..(a triple bypass). I was in need of information that would help me recover and take me forward to avoid needing surgery in the future, to bring me back to a state of good health and to find ways to do it with little disruption. I had a few other books given to me, or suggested. I have found that The New Living Heart Diet is an amazingly complete "how to" manual for someone with heart disease or is trying to prevent it. I would reccommend it to a friend.

This is the ONLY cookbook that you'll ever need!

Great advice and explanations of heart disease, diabetes, and related diseases. Written in clear concise format which makes sense and easy to understand why diet modifications must be made immediately by anyone threatened with heart disease. Great shopping, dining out, and general guidelines that are easy to understand and are attainable. The recipe section is excellent and has a wide variety of choices and new fat-free or low-fat recipe substitions for our favorite foods. A must for anyone who is health conscious.....

Most complete book on the subject.

I'm a diabetic and recently had a quadruple bypass. After being introduced to this book, I devoured it and now live it.
