An even better Mandie

I started reading the Mandie series when I was in the sixth grade and I'm now finishing up my last year of law school. And I have to say, I actually felt more connected with Mandie in this book than I've ever felt before. Lois Gladys Leppard does a good job of bringing out the class consciousness in the Deep South and she shows how difficult it can be to fit in new places. I was suprised that the mystery never seemed solved at the end of the book, but I still felt delighted with the novel when I finished. I have long said that the book publishers have not tapped into the market of young women who grew up reading the mystery series such as Mandie and Nancy Drew and thus are not usually into romance novels. I'm glad to see this book as I think it is heading in the right direction. I've been wanting a series that I could be enthralled by that wasn't romancish or off color or too chick lit like and I think this is just the thing. I hope Lois Gladys Leppard will write more installments and that it doesn't fade out like her Lilly series did.

GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I loved this book! Mandie HAS to marry Joe. I will never read another Mandie book if she marries Jonathan! He is kinda wierd. That is my opinion! Joe really understands her and is there for her. He knows how she feels. I think they are a FANTISTIC pair!

Mandie has to marry Joe!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This book was good

This book was pretty good. The only things I didn't like was that Joe was hardly ever mentioned, the book got kind of boring in the middle and it took forever to get published. I also thought that George Stewart and Adrian were really weird because George followed Mandie everywhere and Adrian always wrote to Mandie even though she obviously didn't like him and she didn't like George either.I think Joe really cares for Mandie and she cares for him. So I think Mandie should marry him. I liked that Mandie acted more grown up. I really liked this book overall and I can't wait till the next one comes out!!!!!!!!

I enjoyed this book

I really enjoyed this book and hated to see it end . I'm excited to see what comes next . Even though Mandie is saying she might not marry , I hope she will marry Joe . I must admit this book wasn't as exciting as the other books , but I would definitely encourage you to read it .

Good Read

Personally, I like this book. Sometimes the plotline wanders, but otherwise it was great. Unlike the other series, Mandie acts more grown-up and mature while still retaining her adventuresome and wholesome spirit. She also has a couple new admirers. One she met on her summer trip to Ireland while another is British, and both are infatuated with her, which amused me but I hope she marries Joe. Besides the mystery of other girls at the college snubbing her, there's a boarding house that the girls are staying at that is rumored to be haunted. Could this have something to do with the missing locksmith? You'll have to read it to find out. The end is exciting and made me eagerly want to read the next book. If you liked the Mandie books then you'll like this series. If you read the Mandie books, liked them, but thought they were a little too young for you, you'll like this series. Best of all, the books are much longer! I've been a Mandie fan for many years and am excited about this new installment in Mandie's life. Believe me, you'll enjoy it too. :)
