Simply Amazing Inside & Out

So the book cover had a small tear easy to look over once you get into the pages and content. The rest of the book was in great shape for used and I can't believe someone would get rid of this treasure it is simply amazing. Pleasure for years to come.

Authentic Native American

This book honors Native Americans. Beautiful designs. Not those cutsey cartoonish designs. These look like painting you'd be proud to display without offense. I have many Native American friends who love this book as for these very reasons as well.

AMAZING book!

I was inspired to get this book because I wanted to make something Native American styled for a family member. I read all of the wonderful reviews on here and I decided to buy it. The first time I bought it, I was refunded 2 weeks later and the second time I waited half a month to receive it. Perseverance is the key here and I got the book! It was worth every penny I spent on it. All of the designs are colorful and charted out with DMC floss codes. I could not cross stitch any of this without the color charts as I am a visual person. There are a few large projects, and by large I mean huge. These large projects include one of a warrior, chief and a tribeswoman. There are smaller projects such as the dream catcher and the medicine/sun wheel. The smallest projects are easy motifs and dancer silhouttes. These are wonderful to turn into bookmarks or borders. I cannot wait to get started on these. I would like to add that the designs were inspired by more than one Native American tribe such as the Nez Perce, the Navajo and the Lakota. What I also love about this particular book is the information it gives about the cultural influence that led Julie Hasler to create the designs and no fraction stitches! Which I just cannot stand, because they are real pests in my opinion.

Native American Cross Stitch by Julie S. Hasler

Beautiful and breathtaking designs. As a first time cross stitcher (now hooked)I found the instruction in this book very user friendly.

Inspiring Cross Stitch

I wanted to make everything in the book and/or adapt some of the designs into my own creations.

Amazing Book for Lovers of Native American Cross Stitching.

I live in Cape Town, South Africa and my husband and I travelled to london for a holiday in July, 1999. I saw this book at Harrods while I was there and promptly bought two copies, one for my youngest sister, and one for a very good friend. It is amazing that an English designer of the stature of Julie Hasler, who has published many other fine cross stitch books, has been able to, so perfectly, portray the wonders of the Native Americans and their culture, both ancient and modern through this medium. The two people I have bought this book for have been stitching non stop from the more than 40 patterns featured in this high quality book. The picture of the Nes Pearce woman featured on the cover is but a small taste of the wonders to be found under it. I would recommend this book to anybody who loves the art of Cross Stitching and who loves the culture of the Native Americans. For cross stitchers who hate back-stitching, this book is ideal as Julie has managed to portray her subjects poignantly, using mainly whole cross stitches and using little or no back stitch. A fabulous buy. Stunningly easy patterns to follow, and the colours are amazing. I have found myself totally inspired by the contents of this book and have, as a result, started to read up as much as I can on the Native American culture. If you have the money and you like this type of work....buy it...you won't regret it! :)

Good subject coverage

I really liked this book - I did find the large designs rather "busy" but very striking never the less. A nice varity of design complexities and sizes. Well worth owning.
