Fun guidebook

Very fun book to read and I have learned some more information in this book after visiting Rome 2 times. It has some good maps and covers a lot of areas of Rome.

A Must Read Travel Guide!

If you've never been to Rome and this is your first trip, or you've been before and are looking for new and different things to do, then this book is for you. Well organized and laid out, you can't go wrong with this travel guide. I've been to Rome over a dozen times, and I had never read this travel guide. I purchased it, planning on returning to Rome before the summer, and learned a lot about the Eternal City that I hadn't known before! Packed with lots of information on various sites as well as suggestions for restaurants and hotels. If you're looking for a lot of choice when it comes to where to eat/stay, this might not be the best book as it is very methodical and focuses more on exploring the city than on giving its readers suggestions on places to eat/stay. If that's what you're looking for, purchase the Lonely Planet Rome. This book is loaded with maps and photos and breaks the city down into manageable chunks. Excellent guidebook! You won't be disappointed.

Great book

The book has enough pictures and information. was very useful in our trip to Italy in May 07

Extremely Helpful ~ Great Buy

I am very picky with my travel guides and I think this was the best purchase I ever made. I expected the beautiful pictures; however, the content was also amazing. I personally prefer more than a 4 line blurb about an attraction and in this book, I found there were amazing detailed descriptions for each place I visited to identify the history, important characteristics and must see items. The maps were very helpful while navigating each district and the recommendations were well suited.

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC travel book very similar to travel shows

your typical travel guidebook (a little on the heavy side) with the most detail oriented information at your disposal. good for the plane ride over to italy, it's full of information about everything you wanted to know about rome, starting with history and culture. the guidebook is not very practical for pulling out of your sack especially if your burdened with cameras and other heavy travel items. the book is very very very informative and true to national geographic, chock full of beautiful pictures! this guidebook offers a series of walking tours with national geographic as your guide; extremely useful if you have the time to walk and read as you go! while travelling i found it a little difficult to find the maps when i needed them (during those vacation rush periods). this book is useful for reference; with every point of interest explained thoroughly.
