From the author of Ghetto Heaven and Money Power Respect, comes Erick S. Gray's Nasty Girls, now reissued at a great low price!
Camille, Jade, and Shy are best friends and have always had each other's backs. Jade and Shy's boyfriends, Roscoe and James, are partners in a lucrative drug business, but one night they get caught up in a shoot-out that goes horribly wrong. Shy's man, Roscoe, ends up in prison while...
Nasty Girls is a novel about three women - Shy, Jade and Camille - and their friendship between each other as well as their intimate relationships that ultimately test their bonds. Shy's boyfriend is Roscoe. Roscoe ends up going to jail under shady circumstances even though he's definitely not a boy scout. The test is if Shy will be able to stay strong and wait for her man or will she allow herself to be defeated by her circumstances? Jade's boyfriend is James. James is Roscoe's "right hand" which works since she's best friends with Shy. James and Roscoe run in the same business but they couldn't be any more different. The test for Jade is does she want to continue putting up with James, who cheats and disrespects her, or will she stand up for herself and get with a man worth having her? Where Shy and Jade are deep in love with their men, Camille has placed a shield across her heart as defense against getting hurt. Camille sees the drama her best friends go through with their men and feels that the harder she is, the safer she'll be. Camille is the mother figure and extremely loyal to her girls so no matter how far she wants to stay away from matters of the heart, Shy and Jade's drama pulls her in. I have only read one other novel from Erick s. Gray, and that was "Ghetto Heaven". That book was just ok, in my opinion "Nasty Girls" shows a definite improvement. My favorite parts were the fight scenes. Who doesn't know someone that was ready to do damage to another girl over some guy? If you said you don't know anyone that has done that or come close, YOU'RE LYIN'!! Shy, Jade, and Camille bring the pain!! Erick wrote those scenes to absolute perfection. This book was well written and I remain impressed by how well Erick captures the female perspective. Not many male authors can do that but he succeeded. This book is worth the money, I highly recommend it.
SAD BUT REAL AS THEY COME!!!!

I felt like I was watching a movie the whole time while reading this book. I'm from Queens and that really helped me in reading the story, made it more real. It was a tear jerker and I really enjoyed it. The story line was fast paced, and each character had some personal demon to battle. It's sad Jade didn't reach her full potential, and this show's how so many of our young people in Urban neighboorhoods, feel hopeless, don't realize their own worth, and just settle to be trapped in the drama. The only thing I wished was that we see if Shy ever got herself together and if Cream and Camille made out ok. "I wish I had more hands I'd give this book 5 thumbs up!" just kidding, but damn this book was mad good. This is definitely a book club joint!

Nasty Girls was off the chain, and a hot read just like all of the other novels written by this author. Shy, Camille, and Jade were so different from each other, but at the same time so much alike. I'm certain just about every sista reading this will be able to relate, and I had to call up my play cousin afterwards to tell her about it. It was an emotional roller coaster ride that ended in tears, and I loved every minute of it. Eric, good job, sweetie. I can't wait for the next one.
It's that then some!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
