Names of Christ

IT IS IN GOOD CONDITION IN MAIL. IT IS VERY GOOD FOR THE STUDENTS OF THE CHRISTIAN COLLEGES OR CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS.

great devotional

if you are wanting a simple devotional guide for each day of the year try reading The Wonderful Names of Our Wonderful Lord. Each day is a brief devotional in which you learn another name, its scripture reference and meaning for Jesus Christ. Very interesting reading.

The Way The Truth The Life

Thou shalt call his name Jesus; for he shall save his people from their sins. (Matthew 1:21) Throughout the Bible, Jesus has many names. He is called the Lily of the Valley, the Bright and Morning Star, King of Kings, Son of Man and the Rose of Sharon. If you love the words of Christ, then this book will explain who He is and why more than 300 names reveal an intimate portrait of a man who gave his life for the sins of the world. Each name also has devotional prayers and could be used to enrich your devotional time. The names have been classified into: 1. Literal Functions - prophet, priest, king 2. Metaphorical Functions - Shepherd, bread of life 3. Poetic Functions - lily of the valley or morning star The names in this book originated from the King James Version, but the author has added alternative names from the NIV for those unfamiliar with the KJV. This can be helpful because the KJV uses the word "Daysman" and the NIV uses "Arbitrator." The main headings are the KJV words and then there is a note at the end of each section if there is a word change in the NIV. Even if you have been reading about Jesus since you were a small child, there is a wealth of information here you may have never considered. I was especially interested in the "bundle of Myrrh" comments. There is a beautiful story about a traveler who is refreshed by wild jasmine. The connection is then made with a bundle of myrrh. Myrrh is actually a fragrance/essential oil that makes you more introspective, encourages expression and exalts the spirit. The Rest of The Story

A wonderful book; unfortunately the publisher doesn't tell anything about the authors. Charles Hurlburt was a founder of Africa Inland Mission in the 1890's, and was responsible for missionaries first being allowed by the Belgian government into Congo. He left a huge legacy in Africa, including children and grandchildren who have served God in Africa. One grandson, Win Hurlburt, who was born in Congo, has served Christ in Africa for well over forty years. Through Africa Resource Ministries (www.africaresourceministries.org) he is carrying out God's vision through training and equipping African pastors, evangeists and church planters in Congo, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda and Sudan. There are over fifty eight week Portable Bible Schools going on in these countries this Spring. I had the priviledge of teaching these men and women in March of this year and read from this book to them each day. My hope is to provide a copy for each student who goes through the one year bible training at the centers in Uganda and DR Congo, of which there are approaching 250 graduates each year.

Finding power in the wonderful names of our Lord!

This book is one book which caught my eye, and a strong magnetic pull made me pick it up. As I was flipping through the book, I saw the many names and titles of our God, with their respective Scripture references and a brief devotion for each of the names of our precious Lord. This book will be one of my most treasured, as each time I pick it up, I find it hard to put down, as my eyes and heart want to go on reading...
