A must read!

I am a middle school media specialist, and I first borrowed this book from our professional library. But just as quickly as I began reading it I knew I had to buy my own copy. Lesesne covers so many of the topics I deal with on a daily basis, from the voracious reader who can't get enough books to the reluctant reader who hates being dragged into the media center. I think this book ought to be required reading for all English/language arts teachers, media specialists/librarians, and in a prefect world, parents too!

Naked Reading is a wonderful book for either someone teaching pre-service teachers or a teacher who has been in the "trenches" for a number of years. I may be marginally biased because I am mentioned in the book, but that does not negate the wonderful ideas that Lesesne presents. The book covers specific ways in which to excite students to read. The chapter on energizing tweens puts together what Lesesne calls T.A.R.G.E.T and like the book, this idea is right on "target" with ideas that are presented in an accessible manner for all who read the book. Many titles are mentioned throughout each chapter and an annotated bibliography is included.
