They all rock!

My kids absolutely love all the myth-o-mania books. We re-read them every year and have come as your favorite Greek God or Goddess party. The books have gotten them interested in other myths and legends as well. They are great fun!! We wish Kate would write more of them!!

We all know the myth of Persephone. How she was snatched from the earth by the evil Hades, and he forced her to become his bride. What we didn't know, was that Hades Little brother Zeus, had re-written history! The part about Hades snatching Persephone? Total rubbish. She jumped on his Chariot in an attempt to get away from her obsessive mother! Forced her to be his bride? Hades was keen on getting her out of the Underworld! In a twist of hilarious and entertaining twists, Hades and Persephone take a liking to each other, and eventally fall in love. But Zeus has other plans. Will Hades actually be able to marry Persephone? Phone Home, Persephone! is a fantastic read, Telling us the true story behind Persephone and Hades.

Do you like Scieszka?

Greek myths can be nifty stories just by themselves. And these are "fractured fairy-tale" style myths, told from the perspective of long-suffering older brother Hades, who has to endure the spoilt tantrums of his youngest brother Zeus...and other myth-sized misisadventures. Fun for read-aloud!

What a Riot!

My middle school daughter has loved this series, which she read after the Lemony Snicket books. The stories have inspired her to learn more about the original Greek myths. Keep them coming! Her comments: "This book is hilarious, especially when Demeter throws a temper tantrum over her daughter. You would think a mother would behave better than that. These gods have cell phones and big screen TVs! All the books are a riot."

Hades writes his oddball deals with Persephone

Did Hades really kidnapped Persephone according to Greek myth? Not really, according to Hades, the King of Underworld, whoclaims Zues is "a myth-o-mania" (old Greek for 'liar'.) Hades writes how Hades's meets Persephone, the goddess of spring, learns about her suprizing over-bearing mother, and the ending is a laugh roit. But you might want to read "Have A Hot Time, Hades." before this one.
