Was it not Miss Haversham (Great Expectations (Dickens)) who once exclaimed "Mysteries, I can't abide mysteries!" It seems as though ever since those words were penned in the 19th Century, people have been preoccupied with finding answers to some of the greatest puzzles on earth. Taken from his own impressive list of adventures, this very select collection includes; Ancient gun cannon - found in the middle of nowhere, the discovery of a missing WW2 American fighter aircraft in Papua New Guinea, another USAF aircraft - the B24 Liberator "Lady Be Good" found in the Sahara 16 years after it was lost, elephants which go underground to die, ancient civilisations, the source of the Blue Nile River and many more besides. Altogether a refreshing approach to a subject which makes an extremely interesting read. NM

This book is fantastic. Its about the Travels of John Blashford Snell down the blue river of Papua New Guinea and his encounters with the people and wildlife. One of my all-time favourites.If you're one of those people looking randomly for some good, fun adventure, get this. I'd also recommend 'The Horizontal Everest,' for a more modern classic.
