Comforting, soothing bedtime or anytime book

This book features a small rabbit highlighting the aspects of his life. This includes many things that a young child can relate to, especially as he emphasis how his objects - his chair, pyjamas, toy car - differ from the objects his parents have. It is a sweet view of life from the child's perspective and gives a safe, warm feeling to small children.

A great bedtime book!

Use caution before buying this book - you'll have to read it over and over and over again.... I like this book better than Goodnight Moon because it shows the little bunny's day, his family, etc. He shows us his car, his spoon, his slippers, etc., and also, his parent's counterparts. It's a very nice way to explain what things are to little ones - like a toothbrush and there's a picture of it. It's cute how they draw a bumblebee next to the brushes. My world just talks about the differences between the world of a child and that of his parents. It's neat to see how the little boy tries to imagine all sorts of things - like swinging so high that he's swinging over the world. This book teaches ownership of items and compares them to those of an adult. But I also find myself explaining that rabbits don't have cats and dogs for pets, nor do they eat fish for dinner. I know that sounds ridiculous but a curious toddler wants to know these things. But if the child for whom you're buying it is over the age of four, I'd check out something else. Great book though and I definitely recommend it.

Great book that kids love

After reading some of the disappointing reviews I felt compelled to write. This is a favorite of my son's! I think that's what we need to keep in mind is how the kids respond to it and what it's teaching. Of course it can get difficult having to read the same book five times in a row, but it's wonderful when the kids are so interested in reading! He loves seeing the differences between "my" and "daddy's" objects. The pictures are wonderful an he is mesmerized by the colors. Yes, the text is simple however it is interesting and is not sing-song ish. Enjoy!

A simple look at life from a toddlers perspective

I liked this story for its' simple look at daily life routines and lyrical writing. At first I thought it was a little hard to find the rhythm of the writing but now we love reading it to our 2 year old son. The story shows a daddy bunny putting a baby to sleep (not many baby books show the dad's role so prominently), the mommy bunny in the room when the baby wakes up, a family eating breakfast, a dad going to work in the city & a dad and baby working on cars in the garage etc. It is a nice story for the toddlers starting to get a handle on the rhythm of family life.

A Gentle, Simple Masterpiece.....

Those who were raised on and loved Goodnight Moon will be thrilled to see its companion book, My World, back in print after a 30 year absence. Get reacquainted with the rabbit family as little bunny explores the safe and familiar world around him. Margaret Wise Brown's gentle, understated text: "Mother's chair./My chair./A low chair./A high chair." or "Daddy's boy./Mother's boy./My boy is just a toy./Bear" is soothing, poetic and rhythmic and beautifully complemented by Clement Hurd's engaging family scenes. In My World he alternates black and white pages featuring the simple items of little bunny's life, Daddy's toothbrush hanging beside little bunny's toothbrush, a large and small comb lying next to each other or Daddy's slippers next to bunny's own pair of slippers with full color more expansive family spreads, the family preparing and eating breakfast or all washing up and getting ready for bed. Perfect for children as young as one, My World is a comforting, reassuring, timeless treasure to be read again and again and shared and passed down to future generations.
