This is the only book I have read about the Peshtigo Fire. When I read it when I was young, I enjoyed it for the story. But going back as an adult and realizing that it was about a fire worse than the Chicago fire and on the same day was so interesting. The sisters' relationship was very understandable and the characters were consistent. I really liked this book!
One of my favorites as a kid

I read this book more times than I can count as a girl growing up in Wisconsin. The fact that it was set in the state where I lived helped connect me to it, but it's also just a good story for anyone who, like me, loves historical fiction.
