My Playtime Book (Little Ladybird Board Books) My Playtime Book (Little Ladybird Board Books) This is a nice series of board books for older babies and toddlers. This book, My Playtime Book, explores the world of play. Each page shows the toddler playing with a particular toy within the context or scene, building blocks in a corner of a room with wallpaper with his kitty rubbing against him. He, although the gender is not mentioned and could easily be a girl if desired, plays with: blocks, paints, rides a tricycle, takes his teddy bear on a walk in a little wagon, digs in the sandbox, swings on a swing, throws a ball high, go zooms with a truck, bang on a drum, and read a book while in a large box with his blanket. The book uses an action verb, i.e bang, throw, ride, build to describe the action. Each page has one sentence. One of things I particularly like about the book is that on each page spead, one page has a border and the other doesn't. On the page with a border one aspect of the illustration spills out beyond the border. It gives a sense of action, i.e. a couple of blocks are halfway in the border. My son when he was little enjoyed these books. I'm sure your child will too.
