A book of encouragement of how one man of faith faced the oncoming darkness of Alzheimer's disease. In a powerful story of courage and faith, Davis shows how God gives strength and grace. This description may be from another edition of this product.
It is rare that someone would dare to face their own devastating terminal illness, in this case, Alzheimer's Disease, with such clarity and insightfulness. As a caregiver to my husband, a United Methodist pastor, who is in the mid-statges of this disease, this book was immeasurably enlightning and helpful in understanding some of what is happening in his mind. It has also helped me to better know how to minister to him and to now how to deal with this ongoing degeneration of what was a bright mind. Robert Davis' faith and ultimate trust, especially his sharing of how he made peace with the disease, has proved to be a great help to me, as I know it will be to others. I might note that my husband also read the book and found it helpful. Many thanks to Rev. Davis! Edna H. Love United Methodist Pastor (retired)

This book is so insightful, especially the portions written by his wife, Betty. My father-in-law is in the final stages of this disease. I wish that I had discovered this book when he was going through the first phases. It would have helped us be even more understanding. ( We patiently listend to the same story over and over. In Bob's and Betty's words, they tell why.) My mother-in-law cried as she read the book. I urge anyone family that is experiencing this to purchase this book! An excellent resource!
My Journey into Alzheimers by Robert Davis

I found the book "My Journey into Alzheimers" to be exceptionally informative and inspirational. To read a book on Alzheimers Disease, written from the perspective of one afflicted is unique. Robert Davis has given his readers a look into the day to day battle against a much dreaded illness. This book is very thought provoking and touching. As a christian my self I was inspired by his continued relationship with God,despite his disease. I also found it very beneficial to gain insight into how a person with Alzheimers thinks and feels, and how this changes as the disease progresses. The practical advice on how to initiate a conversation with someone who has Alzheimers is helpful. No doubt, many readers will be thankful for the courage and dedication Robert Davis and his wife have put into this book. Having been permitted into their lives during this most difficult time is truly remarkable. However I find myself wondering how things are with Mr.and Mrs. Davis now. Is there perhaps a website, or e mail address where I can write? Thank you once again for this excellent resource. Debbie
My Journey into Alzheimer's Disease

This was truly an insightful look into the thoughts and feelings of a man facing Alzheimer's Disease. Robert Davis was a very intelligent, successful minister in one of the largest churches in Miami when he tragically had to face the fact that Alzheimer's was robbing him of his ability to function. His wife's love and his faith in God are the elements that keep him going. Davis writes "Many Christians have found that when life completely tumbles in, when they are without strength or any hope or help for themselves, or when their minds become too tangled to even hold thoughts, that God overrules the circumstances and that Christ comes to minister to them at the very point of their need."This book is a great help to those suffering from the beginning stages of Alzheimer'a Disease, or for family and friends of a loved one with Alzheimer's. I guarantee you will find this book inspirational.
