My First Spanish Word Board Book (Mi Primer Libro de Palabras en Espanol)

My husband and I know no Spanish, but we are tutoring a Latino couple to speak English. This is one of the best books we've found to use. The book is very comprehensive with many common words they need to know. It includes excellent pictures to go with the words.

This book was a replacement of the original book that did not have Spanish words as well. Our daughter is 13 months old and this is one of her favorite books (she is a little book worm). We have not been able to teach her the Spanish words as of yet, but you can ask what just about anything in the book is and she will point to that object. I and my wife felt that teaching her Spanish was also essential especially when we decide to move out West were it so often used. An excellent buy and you cannot go wrong!

This is a great bilingual primer to help very young kids learn Spanish (or English). The pictures, with Spanish description and English translation, are bright and enjoyable for the kids. The pictures are isolated to themselves, superimposed against a white background. The pages are board, which prevents the kids from tearing pages, but the finish is glossy. The designer and editors present 16 categories, each on a left-side, right-side layout. The categories include parts of the body, clothing, and food; items inside and around the home; and basics on colors, shapes, and numbers. In addition, we experience animals and vehicles, as well as being taken to the beach and the farm.

Excellent resourses for easily learning Spanish through colorful illistrations. Toddlers and older kids can benefit greatly from this book. As far as bilingual books go, this one and Drum, Chavi, Drum!/Toca, Chavi, Toca! are the ones that my children love most. When kids love a book and can't put it down, that's a great sign that they will learn Spanish.

I used this book to help my daughter learn a multitude of words in English and ASL signs when she was *very* young. Now that she's a preschooler, we're looking at it again from the Spanish perspective. And even though I am fluent in Spanish, I learned a *lot* of very specific vocaublary from this book (the names of all different kinds of vehicles and tools, for instance). I would recommend this book not only for parents of very young children, but also for students of the Spanish language of *any* age, as a vocabulary builder. If I were teaching a high school language class, I would want to copy pages out of this book, blank out the names, and challenge students to label each picture. What a great resource!!

This book has high-quality photos of each word. Unlike other bilingual books, the pictures are actual photos instead of drawn. Much easier for my child to "get it". The English/Spanish are included next to each picture. Highly recommended!
