John Prebble has been one of those writers of history who engrosses the reader with facts in such a way that you feel close to the subject. He is one of those writers (I have all of his books now!) who can put together the right words in the right way and give you an understanding of the time and situation about which he is writing. He could easily turn an anti-history student into pursuing a history major!
