This author has the elements in hand of a successful, interesting mystery novel, but buries them under layers of superfluous descriptives. He waxes tedious about what a face reveals from one angle, then moves around to another and starts over from that side, it seems. Where was the editor? Trim the fat, people, and have a much more readable book. So, if you can do that yourself as you go, you'll survive the excess to find the story and characters.
