Verrick Grant accidentally sets off the alarm in her brand new apartment, upsetting her new neighbor, Lionel Parford. Lionel appears at her door impeccably groomed, confident, and obviously irritated, prompting Verrick to dub her neighbor, "Mr. Perfect." Verrick watches enviously as Lionel's perfection reaches dizzying heights. The man succeeds at everything, is always neat and tidy, has the extended family that Verrick can only dream of, and yet manages to only catch her when she's in some state of disarray or alarm. She detests him, but as he lives next door, she finds it impossible to avoid him. As time passes, Verrick finally finds the chinks in his armor and begins to warm up to him. And as he sees more and more of Verrick, Lionel begins to realize that she is much more that a dizzy neighbor; in fact, she just might be the woman he's been waiting for.
Mr. Perfect is a great book. It's smart and funny. I've never laughed so much reading a romance novel. I highly recommend it. I was suprised to learn that it was Shelagh's first novel. I'd love to read more from her.
