Had a hard time getting into this book as I found it overly pedantic and had too much church -ese and gobledygook. As I fought on, however, I found it more and more interesting and potentially useful. I recommend it to the boards of the "pastoral" size congregations to read it for ideas on solving their problems of growth.

If you are part of the leadership of a UU congregation, and your congregation wants to grow, then this book will be very useful. Heck, if you are part of the leadership of a UU congregation, then you have probably read this book already. Latham describes many cultural and behavioral differences in congregations of different sizes, and helps to explain how organization and culture can get in the way of growth. I was so excited the first time I read this book that I got out my highlighter and began marking passages - then realized I was highlighting most of what I was reading! Highly recommended.
