Motivation & Learning

This book is full of exciting ideas to help pep up your classroom and teaching style!:) I found so many ways to make learning meaningful to all my students. It is a great book for new teachers as well as seasoned teachers who are looking for ways to help motivate all types of students (as well as yourself). Even though I have read the book through once I still find new things to try each time I flip through the pages. This would be a great graduation gift for a new teacher!:)

"Motivation and Learning" is loaded with motivational strategies and tips that work for all grade levels. Spence Roger's research based strategies and tips not only make teaching easier through increased motivation but also increases student achievement. This book should be must reading for the new teacher as well as the seasoned veteran. Try "Class Commitments", "Carousel Graffiti", "Vanity Plates", and "Quality Assignmrnts". These are a few of the strategies that I have used from this book at the beginning of the school year. The difference in the quality of student work was obvious. Having taught for thirty years, I thought I knew it all. This book has raised student achievement to a new level in my classes. Hats off to Spence Rogers for hitting the nail on the head with "Motivation and Learning".

This book offers a plethora of strategies and tips on increasing motivation and quality. Ideas are applicable to students Pre-K to adult. An outstanding resource--one that we provide each new teacher with!

I found Motivation and Learning to be a great resource for the classroom teacher! It is an excellent anthology of application strategies supported by research.The book's format is easy to read, understand and use. It is also a good tool to utilize not only for the new teacher, but for the more experienced as well. I have used many of the strategies in the classroom and have witnessed positive results.The students are eager to try new and novel ideas, and they are willing to take risks . I have also noticed that the students retain more of what I teach. It has brought fun back into teaching . My favorite strategies are the Carousel Graffiti and Tic Tac Toe. What was most poignant were the six standards that he discussed in the first chapter. It really brought into focus , the child's perception of the classroom and the system of education. It stops and makes you reflect upon the impact you have on that student's idea of learning. I have used them as a criteria in evaluating all of my lessons. It does work!!!!!

With not much time on my hands, I must at least say what a wonderful tool this will be to have in your archives! It does not matter if you are just starting out, or have been working hard within the educational industry for a great deal of time, Spence Rogers, has brought together some of the most useful strategies and tips I have ever found to help me find ways to manage my context and not my kids. Motivation & Learning showed to me how to create a classroom environment that enhances the natural intrinsic motivation my kids have. The difference in how I feel as their mentor, and how they feel about me and my teaching now is incredible!This book is a must for all of us!!
