Causes of the Civil War

Author Alison Imbriaco examines the events that led to one of the most pivotal events in American history: the American Civil War. She describes the differences in culture and philosophy of the North and the South, the impact of slavery in both places, and the political compromises made on both sides in an effort to keep peace and avoid war, which ultimately failed. old school internet presentation

This book, published in 2004, was trying to be trendy and up-to-date by having the page perimeters be internet screens from Word. The broken out sidebars of info/ stories/ factoids are in internet pop-up boxes. All in all it is distracting and very dated. Looking through it there is a lot of history but the real meat of the actual causes start after the halfway point in the book.
