Missing Maine in Maine chronicles

First of all, though very attractive, these are very expensive books for their length. I enjoyed the story line to a point but the setting could have been any coastal location in any state and the plots seem shallow. I didn't feel that the characters were developed enough, and they weren't "Maine Strong." There weren't enough Maine elements... Unlike Elisabeth Ogilvie whose descriptions of characters and locations make you feel like you are living their island lives, the location of Saco and Biddeford Pool (which are located in the "other" Maine--another discussion entirely) don't grab you as truly Maine coastal towns. If the author plans on continuing with a Chronicle, these books need to grab the reader--pull them in and have them FEEL Maine through and through. Also, these books are definitely written for the female reader--is that the author's intent. I feel that there can definitely be a continued saga like Ogilvie's Bennett Island Series but Mary Fremont Schoenecker needs to saturate her readers with Maine and Maine values and strength. Though research was done, I don't get the feeling that the author really knows Maine that well--I could be mistaken but her bio leads me to NY. Has she lived or traveled to the real coast of Maine--Mid Coast and Down East Maine? I wish her luck in her writing and look forward to following these books as I hope they increase in their development of Maine as a whole... the way life should be.

MOONGLADE

A GOOD READ. HAVING PREVIOUSLY READ SCHOENECKER'S PREVIOUS NOVEL RE FIONA WHICH I SCORED A FIVE STAR, MOONGLADE IS ANOTHER 5 STAR. IT IS ENTERTAINING, WITH A NICE TOUCH OF HISTORY. HER CHARACTERS ARE LIFELIKE AND BELIEVABLE. THE LADY HAS DONE HER RESEARCH. I FELT SO STRONGLY I BOUGHT ONE FOR MY SISTER. MARY KEEPS GETTING A LITTLE BETTER & I LOOK FORWARD TO HER NEXT OFFERING. JUDGE ED FROM THE LEFT COAST.

fun Pine Tree State cozy

In Saco Bay, Maine, Paul Fontaine provides sailing lessons to Clare "CeCe" Chamberlaine when she shouts to him that there is a corpse on a nearby buoy. The skipper of Julie's Dream assumes she is wrong, but she states as an emergency room nurse she has seen dead bodies, Clare declares this is a human corpse as it has hair. He radios the Coast Guard. Maine Marine Patrol Sergeant Remi Windspirit leads the investigation into the death of the Jane Doe. The autopsy confirms that the victim was murdered and that she was a Native American. After questioning Paul and CeCe, Remi seeks clues. With CeCe pleading with her, Tante Margaret, who raised her, uses her psychic gift to assist on the inquiry until she is hurt. As the case takes strange twists, CeCe and Remi are attracted to one another, but he remains focused on his investigation. The second Maine Shore Chronicles (see Finding Fiona) is a fun Pine Tree State cozy starring two likable lead characters, a strong key support cast who share billing with the stars and a vivid look at coastal Maine. The investigation is action-packed while the romantic subplot serves as a charming lighthearted secondary subplot. Fans will enjoy Mary Fremont Shoenecker's fine whodunit. Harriet Klausner
