The shotgun wedding of Hobart Pulp and MonkeyBicycle has produced a high-quality hybrid journal that brings some stunningly wonderful prose and poetry by talented up-and-coming writers to a market blinking through a "standing eight count." Works of note in MonkeyBicycle-half of the journal include Susannah Breslin's "Midget in a Suitcase," Matthew Simmons' "Candy Says," Eric Spitznagel's "Remembrances of the Cold War," and Jamey Gallagher's "A Short History of My Father." From the Hobart-half, don't miss Susan Townsend's "Family Therapy," Pasha Malla's "Three Penises of Adelaide, South Australia," and "Andrew Bombeck's "20 Stories About My Dead Brother, Ollie." The packaging and presentation of this journal is first-rate. Aaron Burch of Hobart and Steven Seighman of MonkeyBicycle, both talented writers, have outdone themselves as editors with this combined edition of their respective journals.
