These two novels from Gerald Petivich are companion pieces. Both track Treasury Agent Charles Carr (and a host of other characters from prior books such as To Live and Die in LA and To Die in Beverly Hills)as he battles counterfeiting gangs in both novels. In Money Men, a fellow agent is killed in a stakeout and Carr goes to the extreme to avenge him. In One Shot Deal, he has to contend with a master counterfeiter who has obtained real currency paper from the US Treasury and is out to make a killing, as well as commit several. Both books have Petievich's commanding eye for detail and his smooth flowing style. All plot elements make sense and are introduced in a very smooth way. It's a real shame Petievich did not get more of a following in his writing career. All of his Charles Carr novels are thorough going delights that never fail to please. If you're a fan of someone like Simon Kernick, you're going to love Petievich. Highly, highly recommended.
