This book was my secret weapon in learning ( trying to learn) Quantum Mechanics. Unfortunately it is no longer in print. If you were to believe that each book had a special kind of "spirit" then this would be one. That is it possesses a certain kind of friendliness that other books of that era just couldn't compare. Although there are many "good books". The term good is of course relative. Rather than "beat you up" with the subject, Anderson makes it possible for one to learn the rather strange science of Quantum mechanics. You feel at home following the discussions and doing the problems because they are set up in such a way that you have time to "digest" what it is that the writer is trying to say. Certainly one of a kind and in a class by itself this book does not attempt to teach "everything" but rather its focus is on you the learner. What makes the book even more interesting is his epilogue. He is communicating his wish and hope for students thinking of pursuing this field. Again very rare indeed for books on physics published in that era.(circa 1971) Southern Jameson West
