Well organized and effective presentation of material

It is truly sad to see this this book out of print. It is without doubt one of the best textbook in the field. Its presentation of the material should be used a model for all writers in microeconomics. The author's early death was a tragedy. The unavailibility of this text is even more tragic.
A great book in its genre

This book is a fantastic introduction into Microeconomics. It doesn't shirk on the mathematics, and it also does not hide the (often dodgy) assumptions that go into constructing neoclassical economic models. Being honest about the mathematics actually makes it easier to learn in my opinion because you can see the sort of modeling that economists actually use, and decide for yourself (often with references given to empirical results not always favouring the orthodoxy) whether you believe their assumptions and agree with them.In contrast to other texts about, it enables you to get a grasp of economics in its historical and analytic context (historical in the sense of you can see how the analytic models developed and were they came from) and it actually (this is what makes it unique) has some level of critical discussion of the models it puts forward. It is not an easy book, in the sense that you have to do some work to master the subject, but it is not a difficult book either, in the sense that the analysis is clear and concise and the exposition straightforward. In an area where many of the textbooks are plain misleading, this book stands out for quality and authenticity. Pity it's out of print! This is highly reccomended for anyone who wants to get a serious grasp of the subject, and if you have any mathematical or scientific training and have enough time to read it, skip the other texts.
