This is a keeper. I'm never selling it back. I'm a graduate student in education, and have taught for many years. Some of the models are a re-introduction for me, and some I have not ever thought about at all. The book is very well-written and well-organized. There are ample citations of supporting research for each of the major teaching models. Great text.
One of the best

This text is an awesome summary of 'state of the art' teaching models that improve student achievement. The scenarios provide a glimpse into what each model would look like in the classroom. The authors have also provided an extensive rationale and research base for each model. Joyce is definately an author that informed educators should pay attention to.If you want one of the best sources as an educator looking to improve his/her own teaching practice (and student achievement), this is it!
A excellent resource tool!

I have read many books on the theory of instruction, but find this book one of the most useful. Balancing theory and practice with actual case studies that help readers to realize the value of the individual models, this text is hardly what some may fear as the standard, dry text that they encounter in a models of instruction course. I highly recommend this well-written text to both pre-service and veteran teachers who want to examine instruction more closely.
Inspiration!

Tired of doing the same things in the classroom? This book is not just for the beginning teacher...it should be in every teacher's library. I used this as part of a graduate course and it has inspired me to try new things in my classroom and has taught me how to approach them correctly. This is a wonderful collection of models for all subject areas.
Review of Models of Teaching.

I have been a practicing teacher in the field for 20 years. I am a graduate of a Big 10 University, with a double major and outside field in education. This book is the best resource I have ever seen for the college student wishing to become a teacher, or for the practicing teacher who was stiffed in methods classes. This book explains in detail the way to use the various models of instruction and how to construct them. It is very explicit in giving anyone the information necessary to become a master teacher. I feel extremely fortunate, even at this point in my career, to have had the exposure to this book that I have. It has allowed me to focus the methods I have been using, and given me the confidence to attempt models that I have not used or even heard of. I would highly recommend this book to anyone with an interest in becoming an instructor of any kind, as this book will help everyone, K-graduate school.
