The Book's Good, But Only Part of the Whole

...The anime series "Mobile Suit Gundam", (on which this manga is based) holds a Star Trek like place in Japanese culture, having spawned multiple sequals and many imitators.Gundam moved the "giant robot genre" out of the giant robot superheros area and into the "giant robots as war machines of the future" mode. This book is part of the continuing story of what happens when children at an obscure research post find themselves pressed into service as child soldiers. This particular book starts as Amuro, the main character, is not handling it well and has taken off with the war machine he operates.I enjoyed it as much as the others in this series. The art is good. The characters work. There's more giant robot battles than I'm normally looking for in fiction, but honestly, it's a war story. What should I expect?

Kai Shiden, King of the Universe!

What can say about this surpreme masterpeice? It outclasses any work of Shakespeare!Well, mabye not,but it's still pretty darn good! Gundam wing fans should be able to spot the similarites between the two series, but they are not connected. anyone who may be interested in manga should buy this. One thing, who thought up the name Frau?also, check out... gundam kits.

Fascinating^_^

I was a die-hard Sailor Moon fan, but I needed something new to watch. So I started watching Gundam Wing on Cartoon Network, and guess what? I got addicted to it! Well.... I decided that I needed to fing out more about the ORGIGINAL Gundam series, and this book was very helpful in that respect. I like the characters and Amuro Ray reminds me of Heero Yuy. Who does Char Aznable look like? Clue: Maybe Zechs? Anyway, if you're a Gundam Wing fan it might not hurt to check this book out because you are missing out on the original Gundam series which aired in 1979 (about the time of Star Wars and Star Trek). Also think about the fact that this is what started the Gundam series and iif it weren't for this series there wouldn't be Gundam Wing or any other seasons! This book might be a little confusing for a new Gundam Wing fan, but it's definitly worth checking out!

If you want to learn more obout Gundam read this.

This is the FIRST gundam seris. It has absolutly nothing to do with the wing seris on Cartoon Network. But you should still get this. The Original Series is my favorite next to G Gundam and Gundam V.

May be misleading to Gundam newbies...

It's disturbing to think how much people are focused on Gundam Wing because it's so mainstream... Personally, I find this to be a good book, but only if you are willing to GO BEYOND Gundam Wing. If you want to learn more about the UC era and the One Year War (not to be confused with Gundam Wing's AFTER COLONY era), go ahead and buy this book. But be warned! If you have no background in Gundam (in its ENTIRETY; not any of this ONLY GUNDAM WING experience), it may be confusing. Keep in mind that Gundam Wing is a totally DIFFERENT universe in comparison to the ORIGINAL KIDOU SENSHI GUNDAM storyline (it was one of 3 alternate universes commisioned by the creators of the original series). Therefore, while they may share some of the same aspects (i.e. the Gundams and the similarities between OZ and Zion), they do not share others, like beam "sporks" and other fun gimmicks. Sorry if the GW description offended anyone.
