Mixed Vegetables will give you mixed emotions. But in a good way!

The lead heroine Hanayu is unlike any female protagonist I’ve read in what seems like forever. She has one goal, which is to become a sushi master. How does she plan to achieve this goal? Well, by marrying the son of a Sushi shop owner, of course! I enjoyed every minute of the interaction between the two leads. The teacher in the manga is also hilarious! I recommend this book if you want something out of the ordinary. There will be deception, food art and interesting characters. And I think what makes their relationship work, is that’s they are very honest with each other. Since the beginning, the plot of her wanting to marry him only due to his background is not prolonged at all, in fact it’s refreshing to see how it’s handled. A must read for me indeed!

Culinary Manga Interesting No?

You know what this manga is a whole new spin for me. I like it. It has sooo many possibilities. I just can't wait to see what happens next with the characters it's soo amazing. If you want a manga that's a lil of the different. Then read this. Especially if you love japanese cuisine! ^_^

Delicious!

I previewed "Mixed Vegetables" in "Shojo Beat" magazine a few months ago. It looked like it had interesting characters, romance, and story, and I liked the humor and art, so I bought it when it came out. The story is about a girl named Hanayu whose family owns a pastry shop. Hanayu is supposed to take over the shop when she grows up, but she really wants to become a sushi chef. Her classmate Hayato is in the opposite predicament. Hanayu decides that if she marries Hayato, her parents will have to let her become a sushi chef. She tries to appeal to Hayato, unaware that he already likes her... The plot in this manga was enjoyable. There aren't very many cooking manga in the US, so it was unusual. It's interesting and has a good pace. The characters are funny, and they have a cute relationship. Hanayu's in an interesting predicament; she catches Hayato's interest, but now she feels guilty because she's using him. This is one of the few times I've seen a heroine trying to like the hero instead of trying to not like him. I like the artwork in this manga, too. It's pretty, but it's not too sparkly. The manga has a light tone overall, and it doesn't get too dramatic. The plot and the characters in "Mixed Vegetables" are fun and interesting. I'm looking forward to volume 2.
