Jade has had it for Zephyr forever. And with graduation just around the corner it's now or never. Jade writes Zephyr a love letter. Only Zephyr never gets the letter--Adam gets it. It's a huge disaster. But, then again, maybe not.
Mixed Messages is about a girl named Jade Chandler who, on a dare, writes a love letter to the guy she's been crushing for 3 years [Zephyr]. She thinks it's her last chance before graduating high school. Jade and her friends [Keesha and Lucy] think Jade and Zephyr will be perfect each other because they are both interested in music. However, the letter gets sent to the wrong guy and a guy named Adam receives the letter and he writes back saying he's interested in her. At first, Jade and her friends think it's a total disaster and Jade plans to tell Adam that it's all a mix-up. But as Jade spends time with Adam and gets to know him better, her feelings completely change. Now she's confused between two guys: one who really likes her but has not been the object of her affections for the last 3 years and another who is beginning to show interest whom she's had a crush on forever. Who will she choose? I found this to be a great story. It was a sweet romance with a protagonist whom I could relate to. Adam was a sweet guy, the kind of guy I wish I could go out with! I couldn't this cook down; I finished it in one day. It held my attention right to the end, keeping me in suspense to see who she ended up with. The thing about this novel is that it didn't focus just on the romance; it included other aspects of Jade's life, such as her music. I thought it was a great ending and I'm looking forward to reading Perfect Strangers, another book in the Love Letter series.
