MISTAKES MEN MAKE, the sequel to All The Women I've Loved by Byron Harmon is the story of a young man on the pathway to self-destruction. Eric Swift is a fine, single man who has just landed his dream job as a sports anchor in New York City. After relocating to New York, Eric takes the city by storm by living the ultimate bachelor life: he has women falling at his feet, money up to his eyeballs and a penthouse to die for. He has his share of sexual encounters and partying becomes his second job. With all the glitz and glamour his life is one many would envy. The fast life of partying begins to take its toll on Eric and his work is affected and subsequently his life begins to spin out of control. He realizes he can't continue to live his life this way and wonders what his purpose is on earth. He begins to seek answers from God and wants a deeper spiritual connection, although he always thought of church and preachers as money hungry scammers. A family tragedy jolts Eric back to reality and the spirituality he was running from becomes a place of comfort and restoration. MISTAKES MEN MAKE is a touching story of the fast life and a prime case of just because something is good to you it might not be good for you. The lessons Eric learns along the way everyone can benefit from in some form or fashion. The writing was so strong you could feel the pain Eric endured while he was trying to discover himself. The stupid mistakes he made had you yelling at him and wanting to hit him upside the head. A book that has you talking to it, is undeniably a must read. The characters were well developed, caring and real, not over the top and unbelievable. The most enjoyable part of the book to me was watching Eric grow from a boy into a man. Reviewed by Eraina B. Eric Swift retired from playing professional football but did not give up his playa ways. All things are ideal in his life - top sports anchor position in the #1 market, new high- scale luxury apartment, good friends, plenty of women, and a supportive family. Until his interests turn to one lady in particular his co-anchor, Eden Alexander. She peeps his game from the start and intercepts his attempt to win her heart. Eric can't believe Eden would refuse him and while searching for other ways to satisfy his constant urge to be with women. During a private threesome at a ritzy strip club, he indulges in another love - cocaine. This begins of a downward spiral that threatened to destroy all Eric has strived to accomplish. In the midst of Eric's trouble, his father undergoes extensive treatments for cancer. Eric rushes to his side, not only to help his dad, but to get his own life together. This time of spiritual and emotional healing may lead Eric to a more Godly game. Harmon creates an uplifting, humorous take on how easy it can be to make mistakes in life. The lively banter between characters is realistic while the development of the storyline promotes respect for the ability to overcome obstacles. MISTAKES MEN MAKE is an entertaining read which will provide hours of laughter and moments of tears. Harmon has clearly put playas on front street as far as the games they play. Reviewed by M. Money and fame can't keep former football star and current TV sportscaster, Eric Swift, from falling into the dark trap of drug addiction. In fact, they contribute to it. Can the love of a strong family, and a righteous woman, save him? This contemporoary story is all the most interesting for being told from the male point of view.

In the eight months that former NFL star cornerback Eric Swift has been a top sports anchor at ABC in New York he has made it with almost a dozen women. As he did when he was at the pinnacle of his football career, Eric works hard at his broadcasting job, but player even harder on the nightlife prowl. However, his co-anchor, Eden Alexander, sacks his advances to go out with him. Eden's resistance ends and she accepts a date with Eric, but she selects the locale. She takes him to the Black Baptist Church Convention where former rapper-turned preacher Reverend Francois provides uplifting services that Eric ignores as heaven to him is having Eden in his bed. He feigns interest in the Reverend's message to entice Eden, but also cheats on the side. Eric soon feels like Job with no one seemingly to turn to unless he heeds the Reverend's message. His best friend from his DC days LeBaron and his wife face medical complications while she is pregnant; his father is seriously ailing; finally he lost his chance at love with Eden. Though the relapse back into hedonistic player seems odd for reformed dissolute womanizing champion Eric (see ALL THE WOMEN I LOVED for why), readers will appreciate this fine uplifting novel. Eric is a terrific protagonist who wants his cake and eat it to and seems to have succeeded until his just desserts come home to haunt him as he worries about the Browns, his parents, and his sacked opportunity for something heavenly inspirational with Eden. Byron Harmon, one of the best authors at providing heartening enriching novels starring immoral males finding the way, provides a well written inspiring tale. Harriet Klausner

Eric Swift is a man who is used to making a lot of money and he's also been very popular with the ladies. In fact, Eric's so popular that he's usually seeing several women at once. After he starts dating the attractive newswoman Eden Alexander, he seriously considers trying to settle down with her. Unfortunately for Eric, old habits die hard and he not only continues struggling with his women habit, but he picks up an even worse habit that's even harder for him to break. Mistakes Men Make is a novel that is literally over before you know it. The author's writing, and especially his storyline, grab your attention and you find yourself reading just one more page to see what's going to happen next. The only minor criticism is that one of the major plot twists just seemed to come out of nowhere and there wasn't enough of a build-up to make it convincing. If you have a few hours and you would like to read a book that is sure to entertain, pick up a copy of Bryon Harmon's latest offering because you won't be disappointed.
