Truth is stranger than fiction.

In the minds of many, there is a very fine line between coincidence and miracle. That fine line, for many, is no different than the gray area between belief and unbelief. If your mind is made up that God does not exist; that we are here as the result of the 4evolution of a single cell amoeba rising to the top of the food chain, then it becomes easy enough to discount God through some system of rationalism or empiricism. However, for those of us whose belief and faith is central in our lives and who have advanced our faith through the same systems of rationalism and empiricism, unbelief becomes incomprehensible. This latter group of readers will thoroughly enjoy reading MIRACLES AND OTHER WONDERS by Charles Sellier. The former group will claim the book to be wrought with coincidence, hallucinations and wishful thinking. The book has been around a while (published in 1994) and bears the name of a television series of the same name produced by the author. I vaguely remember the program, but perhaps others remember it well. Contained here are sixteen accounts of miracles and one conclusion chapter. The author does not attempt to validate, only to present. The stories are well written and all in the ten page range, making this perfect for light reading. In the end, how you view this book will entirely depend on you. Are you a skeptic or a believer? Some of the stories may leave a margin for "real or imagined", but others venture into a realm that goes far beyond anything short of "miracle." For me, and I believe most people have similar occurrences and experiences to draw from that simply cannot be ignored, this book is a stark reminder of forces beyond our comprehension that intercede in our lives. "I don't know why I moved when I did, but if I hadn't, that mortar round would have landed right on top of me." "I knew exactly where I was going, but for some reason made a wrong turn and avoided being in the middle of that bad accident that occurred." "There was no reason for us to come down off the mountain a day early, but if we hadn't, we would have been caught out in the worst blizzard of the season." These are the type scenarios I believe most people encounter at one time or another, and quite often, they are easy enough to chalk up to fate. But this book will make you reconsider. Was it really fate, or was there a stronger force looking out for me? Decide for yourself. Either way, this is an interesting book you will enjoy.
