Minister's Service Manual

When i purchased this book, I was hoping it would have been an updated version and not a version that is from The 1950's! When i preformed my first wedding, I had to reword everything that was written in this book as it was very outdated.

For any practicing minister, its a very helpful essential. I am a very non-traditional minister, but I use the services in here as a base structure to create new ones, or use the traditional stand bys. Its a good reference. ^^

This expanded and updated MINISTER'S SERVICE MANUEL by Samuel Hutton is a compact and valuable resource for ministers. It contains 250 pages packed with information that you will refer to again and again. It contains six chapters covering marriages, illness and funerals, special occasions, church procedures, leading public worship and record keeping. Some may find the content rather basic, but the content follows protocol and can be used as a basis for expansion and customizing. Particularly useful is inclusion of the proper prayers and music for each occasion. I find this particularly useful in performing duties that are not a part of my usual ministry. There are many books of this sort available, and many are more detailed than this one, but I find this compact guide very helpful, easy to navigate and often just what I need to point me in the right direction.
