My son LOVES this book!

I picked this book out for my son when he was 4 months old, and at 2 years now, he still loves this book! The colors, craziness, and touchy feely spots on the pages are great to get babies and toddlers engaged and interested in the book. Now that my son is a bit older, he loves the story, too. I like the nonsensical, silly rhymes and I really like that the story can be longer or shorter depending on how much of a hurry I'm in at bedtime or how many times I've read the book that week. The story makes sense even if you just read the first part of each page. When reading with a one year old that wants to turn the pages quickly to feel the next page, shortening the story comes in handy. The only downside to the book is the pages that open out at the end will eventually probably get worn out or torn. I finally had to reinforce our back pages with packing tape, but I guess that's not so bad seeing that it's been read at least a hundred times in a couple of years. Also, as a former Kindergarten teacher, my son has LOTS of books to choose from to read at bedtime, and he still chooses this one several times a month!

My son can't get enough of this book!

We found this book when my son was 10 months old and he still pulls it off the shelf multiple times a day at 14 months. No matter where the book goes on the shelf he spots Millie's face right away and heads right for it. He loves books in general, but when I showed him this book in the store, he adored it instantly. He sat in the cart and turned the pages over and over as I pushed him through the rest of the store. Millie Moo is a cow looking for her friends. Each page has a cut out window that your child can feel through and guess what animal is on the next page. Of course, it is never what you are expecting it to be and is always something silly like a monkey wearing a sweater or a bug in boots. Then it goes on to say a little more about the animal. "What can you feel through here? Is it goat's black and white coat? --- No! It's a bear in a tutu! Ballet-dancing bears! You won't believe it's true, 'til they entertain a crowd with a pirouette or two." I agree with another reviewer that the fish with fur and fingers doesn't make any sense, but I think the silliness of it is what would make it funnier for an older child. Either way, I usually can't really get to the descriptive part because my son is so anxious to feel through the hole and turn the page again. The last page has a full page flap on each side that opens up to reveal all of Millie's friends in the barn and all their animal sounds. This part is by far my son's favorite. I read it with him all the time, but he is actually just as happy flipping through the book himself and will keep turning pages to the end and then back to the beginning over and over. I'm so glad we stumbled upon this book and highly recommend it.

Adorable!

My now 6 month old got this book for Christmas (2005). She loves it! The pictures are bright & the short rhymes keep her attention & she never gets bored with it. I could read it over & over to her & she only gets more excited! The author needs to write some more adorable books like that of "Millie Moo".

My kid's a tough critic--and he loves it!

My 9-month old son loves this book. He loves the bright colors and the different textures. The rhymes also catch his attention, but are short enough that he doesn't get bored. It has beautiful bright colors and silly situations (monkeys in sweaters, fish with fingers, and parachuting penguins) which I know will keep him interested when he gets older. This is the only book I've found that keeps his attention from beginning to end. He always wants to re-read this book when we've finished. It gets an A+ from me!
