Hurray for a cookbook writer who goes for big results with just three menu items -- soup, bread and salad. I've found this method easy to shop for and quickier to cook. Julia Older with Steve Sherman have produced satisfying meals out of just three things and they tell which soup to pair with which bread and salad. Tres simple. Some examples I liked: Soups (Baja Gazpacho, Portugese Kale, Red Pepper, Black-Eyed Pea, Miso, Stracciatelle, Lobster Bisque) Breads (Poppadums, Chili & Cheese, Golden Saffron, baguettes, Apricot Rum, Cha Sui Bao) Salads (Chicken Cranberry, Broccoli with Tanini, Paprikesh Beef) I've been mixing up soups and breads on Sunday evening and freezing them. By the way, some good salad dressings are included.
