Book Overview

Leading consultants argue that few areas are as important as measurement, yet it remains one of the weakest areas in management today. Based on discussions with managers from a broad range of industries in the US and Europe, this book shows managers how to: Measure what is important to their customers. Motivate their organizations. Identify and eliminate waste of both time and resources.

The Definitive Guide to Performance Management

In this age of activity-based costing and balanced scorecards, there are lots of so-called pioneers. Lynch and Cross are true pioneers. They invented the term balanced scorecard, long before Nolan and Norton. As a process consultant, I use the principles in the book on a daily basis. The representation of the performance pyramid is very intuitive. People unfamilar with performance management concepts can very quickly grasp the interrelationships between strategic, tactical and operational measures. If your budget allows you only one book on performance management -- make this book the one.

Excellent

Focuses on developing corporate performance measures, specifically a balanced scorecard. Used it extensively while writing my thesis. Readable and usable, a rare combination.
