Read this review first - You'll learn a lot.

For those of you that harp on "Errors".... When you bring this book home and use it, will you find errors...? YES! When you bring up an NT Server box for the first time, will it have errors (A.K.A. "Bugs")....? Yes. Do you then scrap the whole NT Server 4.0 NOS and return it back to the store just because it has errors (A.K.A. "Bugs") even though it is a Great NOS (don't worry Novell - Gate's will never duplicate or even come close to NDS - the best thing that happened to NT is NDS for NT). NO, you get the most current fix for all of the errors (A.K.A. "Bugs") in what is called a Service Pack. So why would you return a Great book (actually Great Series of Books)when you can get a Service Pack for each book that will fix all of the Bugs (A.K.A "Errors")??? Answer me that!!?? Now you ask "Where can I find this Service Pack?" Well, how did you find the Service Pack for NT? That's right, you went to the source...Microsoft. So, go to the source of this book.....SYBEX. Yes, they have a site www.sybex.com/catalog/index.shtml This link is to their catalog page - click on the catagory of books - then the title of the book that you are looking for. If there are errors in the book, there will be a link to a page that lists all the corrections to these errors - the link is called "Errata". To all of you people that complain about these errors - try thinking outside of the box. Here's the bottom line - With the corrections and the addition of 2 other related topic books by Sybex - Test Success and Exam Notes - (the Transcender Tests too) this book is nothing less than a 5 star rating - clear explanations. If you want to really understand the material and get certified - you need several sources (A.K.A. these 3 books and some sort of testing software). If you think you can get certified by studying just one book, I have some beach front property in Arizona that I would like to sell you. --Jack

Not Bad--Take it from a 16 years old Kid

This book was indeed an instrumental piece in my passing the NT Server 4.0 Exam on my first try. I am 16, and I would not consider myself a computer prodigy, although I do know a few tricks. I have tried to study for the Windows 95 Exam before, and decided to put down the book due to its rather obscure explanations of the subject. I decided to start back on my track to becoming a MCP this year (1999). I bought the entire Core Exam course for Sybex. I studied the NT Server 4.0 book first. After nights of diligently studying the book, I decided to take the Transcender exam to see how far I had progressed. Little did I know that I would end up with a 465/1000. A rather dissapointing score I might add. I bought the TestPrep and Exam Notes for NT Server 4.0 and then retried the Transcender exam. I still scored low--around the 700s. I again reviewed the Exam notes book the day before the exam along with the transcender test explanations. I am pleased to tell you that I passed the exam today (3/22/99).Now for those who have a bad comment about this book, I would not agree with everything that you say. The book was, of course, skimpy on a lot of the difficult materials covered on the test, but if one looks at the back of the NT Server 4.0 Exam book, he or she would see that the Sybex recommended their others series in order to have a better chance at passing the test.I will not and can't say that one will pass the test by reading this book alone, but I can tell you that one will gain a great amount of knowledge by delving into the book's 700+ pages. I suggest that after you read this book, you buy this TestPrep and Exam Notes for the book as the publisher suggested. These books will indeed be an invaluable source of help in passing the exam. I can almost guarantee that if one takes the time to diligently study these materials, he or she WILL pass. I am not doing an advertisement or anything near that, but I am telling you that THIS IS a good course, perhaps the best.I bought the Exam Cram book for NT Server 4.0, but I returned it due to its rather difficult approach in explaining the the concepts of the exam. Although, I did find the the Exam Cram sheet at the front of the book rather informative. I believe if one studies this sheet at the front, it would give him or her an edge on taking the exam.In conclusion, I recommend this book with my highest seal. I would also recommend that you take read the TESTPREP and Exam Notes for the course. If you want to pass this exam, I would recommend none other than the SYBEX course books. Please note that I give the book a 5 if used with other recommended materials, if not the book will not attain its rank as 5.

An excellent test prep and reference book!

Using this book and some practice exams from another company I passed NT Server 4 with a 945! This book contains everything you need except experience. Don't rely on any one book to prepare you for an exam. For 70-067, use braindumps, practice exams, your experience, and this book. I have also found myself pulling this book off the shelf when troubleshooting.

Excellent book, It definitely was all I needed.

This book was great, I just finished the book yesterday, took my exam this morning and passed easily. There are a few grammarical errors, and a few incorrect diagrams, but not enough to complain about as some of the reviewers have. This book is easy to read and tells you what you need to know to pass the NT Server test.

Passed with an 854 (pretty good) cuz of this PHAT book!

This book does an execellent job of covering all the topics you will be tested on. I will only buy Sybex study guides from now on! My test didn't ask me a single question on NTFS permissions (which is what I felt weakest on), but had tons of scenario logic type questions. Be sure you're smokin' hot with NetWare connectivity and interoperation with/remote management by Windows NT Workstation and Windows 95 clients. Hope that help you guys & gals who are studying... You would be crazy to pass up this study guide if you need to pass this test!
