Excellent Exam Cram - Tought me how to take an MS Exam

I thought this book was excellent. I scored a solid 814 my first try at the test without any prior VB experience, just programming experience in C/Basic/Cobol/Assembly-80x86 in Unix/VMS/DOS for about 10 years, but no windows/event-driven/oo experience. I also used transcenders and NETg CBT's, which were all big help. This book tought me how to take a microsoft exam. The author's questions were just as tough and devious, which was excellent. The material in the book is laid out great and I love the "Alert" side-bars. I think any exam cram book should be part of everyone's study materials. They're inexpensive and they don't attempt to teach the material as much as they teach you how to take the exam. The 70-176 exam has tricky devious questions and this book helps.
Very good to study for the test!

I took the exam with some *minor* experience in VB6.0 and one run through this book, and I passed! I recommend this book to everyone studying for the test. It does have some minor bugs... there are typos, misprints, and the occasional error, but nothing major; if you have a fair understanding of english and grammar you can spot most of them. Moreover, the errors in concepts are explained correctly in further chapters, so a sharp reader can understand the *real* concepts. All in all, it is a very good study guide. The exam presented some concepts that weren't covered in the book (like Visual Source Safe), but there were only about 1 or 2 questions on these, so still the book can help you get a passing grade. :) -dZ.
Good Book

This book is good. I think, the people who rated it 1 star, used this book as scapegoat for their lack of preparation. I found only a couple of very minor mistakes. I rate this book slightly better than the Distributed Cram by Micheal Lane Thomas. The sample test at the end (70 questions) is the best out of 5-6 tests that I used. My advice : Buy this book. Sit on the Computer. Try out each question, concept, etc until you understand it 110 percent. Good Luck

This book is superb, and was instrumental in helping me pass my MCP Exam for Visual Basic. I highly recommend it. The author's writing style is very concise and to the point.

Some people criticize this book "full of errors", but I don't think so! Someone even said that the example on P. 23 doesn't even compile! No, he's wrong. The author already told us that that sample won't work because the result is "overflow"! Please read the book carefully. Someone said this book is not good for new VB programmer. Of course, it's designed for experienced programmer to pass exam. According to my opinion, It is a good book!
