I discovered Goodchild only recently and have been trying to find every book he wrote. This is a series of 18 tales which Inspector McLean and his sidekick, Brook solve with little difficulty. They are just the right length. One concerns Great Aunt Rebecca 80 She is very wealthy and live in a huge home and allows her two nephews and a neice and her husband to live there also. These three spend most of their time wondering when dear old Auntie will finally "kick the bucket" so they can inherit the money they all desperately need. One of the three gets murdered which is odd as you might think it would be auntie Rebecca. It,s a "who done it" that is not obvious from the start. This man, Goodchild wrote some of the very best mysteries ever. He was born in late 1800's when the majority of the best mysteries were ever written. Yet Good- child,s could fit into any time zone.
