Simon's New Book Simply Terrific

Barry Simon's book, "Maximizing Outlook", scores a 5 star rating with me. As a user of Outlook since it's 97 incarnation, I thought I knew all about Outlook. When I started using Office 2000 and the new 2000 version of Outlook, I realized I wanted to know more about this product I use everday. Barry's book really opened my eyes to a lot of features I didn't know were in Outlook 2000. In addition to all the day-to-day features Barry explains, this book illustrates in clear language how take advantage of all the more advanced features found in Outlook 2000. Setting up filters and forms in Outlook, dialing operations and how to use VBA and VBScript with Outlook 2000 are just some of the topics that are thoroughly covered in this easy to read book. No matter what your level of experience with Outlook, Maximizing Outlook 2000 is a book novices and experienced Outlook users alike will benefit from reading.

Great Reference!

This is a well-organized excellent reference book for all levels of Outlook users. I'm the tech-support person (as well as chief cook and bottle washer) at a small firm. This book was sitting on my desk when I went on vacation recently, and when I came back it was gone. I found it on my boss's desk--well used and annotated--when I came back. Several people in my office had actually used it to look something up themselves! And they understood it! This is truly a first! I have several reference books on lots of different programs, but this is the first that's actually been helpful to the novice users. And I've found more than 3 great timesaving features that I didn't even know Outlook could do. I would highly recommend it.

Information out the Wazoo!

This is a very good book for the Outlook beginners to the Outlook advanced users! It starts with the basic aspects of Outlook, such as the Inbox, Calendar, Contacts, etc. Each component is explained in detail as to how it works, what options are available to the user, and a user can customize those options. For the advanced user, Maximizing Outlook 2000: The Practical Guide to Optimizing Outlook shows users little known tips of the Outlook program! This includes such things as using e-mail filters, including world holidays in the calendar, and attaching Outlook components to email to send to others.Overall, I found this book to be very informative and easy to understand. I've been teaching Outlook to others for 3 years, and I still learned things that I didn't know before!

Worth Every Penny

I have been using Outlook for several years and switched to Outlook 2000 soon after it became available. I thought I knew my way around Outlook 2000 fairly well. Barry's book has shown me many things that I didn't know (but needed to) and has also helped me resolve several annoyances. The book is well organized, well written and appears quite thorough (everything *I* need to know about Outlook). The level of detail is excellent for power users, but with enough basic information that it shouldn't confuse casual users. In my humble opinion, this book is worth every penny of it's price, AND MORE!

A Great Resource From Beginner To Pro

This book is a great resource for Outlook 2K. I ordered it when it first came out, and am almost done. Outlook is a great tool. Like any other complex tool, however, it requires training and guidance to use to its fullest potential. The brilliant author, Mr. Simon, combines know-how and humour into one handy reference guide. This book teaches everything from the basics (creating a contact record) to the extremely advanced (creating a VBScript to significantly cut down time spent on tedious tasks). If you're interested in using Outlook, this is definitely a book you want to read. Finally, there is one important difference between this book and most "Outlook 2000" books. Most Outlook 2000 books are really Outlook 98 books, with the title and maybe a couple of pages changed. This book is definitely NOT one of those... it is thorough coverage of Outlook. To reiterate: This is a great resource for anybody planning to use Outlook 2000. Five Stars, ten out of ten, etc. Great work, Mr. Simon!
