I bought this book because I loved the same author's biography of Benjamin Banneker. But this book is even better!! I was thrilled to read of the success of an African-American farmer like Banneker, helping create Washington, DC and corresponding with Thomas Jefferson. But Matt Henson was truly an American hero-- not just a helper. I am recommending this really exciting story to every young man and woman I know, and to their parents and grandparents. The book is a great "read", and Matt Henson was a really smart and brave man who just happened to be an African-American.
