Matt Kenseth: Speeding to Victory

(Part of the Heroes of Racing Series)

One of NASCAR's most successful competitors is Matt Kenseth. In 2000, he was named Winston Cup rookie of the year and then won it all in capturing the Nextel Cup championship in 2003, just his fourth year on the circuit. NASCAR watchers expect to see a lot more of Kenseth in the winner's circle in the years to come. Great for reluctant readers.

matt kenseths racing career

Matt Kenseth: book review 2008 Enslow publishers, Inc. 128 pgs. $10.00 Speeding to victory heroes of racing by: j Chris Roselius Matt Kenseth's racing career by Chris Lowe I enjoyed this book very much because Matt Kenseth is one of my favorite drivers. I Follow NASCAR a lot and watch it every Sunday. This book is organized in the way that every chapter is a different part of his life, from childhood to racing on the big tracks. Matt Kenseth is one of the best drivers. Just this year, 2009, he won the Daytona 500 which is the biggest race. Chris Roselius tells the story of how Kenseth small town life transformed into a huge racing career, from driving his dad's lawnmower up and down the streets of Cambridge, Wisconsin to racing on the high banks of Daytona matt Kenseth is a hero of racing. This book is the story of how Matt Kenseth grows up and gets into racing. Matt grew up in the small town of Madison, Wisconsin with about 1,000 residents. Matt's uncle and father both raced at nearby track. Kenseth's favorite driver as a kid was Dale Earnhardt "the Intimidator". Matt's dad Roy bought a race car and matt was the crew chief. Roy owned many small businesses I town like a video rental and furniture shop. Roy said to matt that when he was old enough he could race it. Matt's second race in the car was a victory. Matt's talent was spreading as he was beating some of the best local drivers. When matt started to race at slinger speedway he started to turn some heads as his second race was a first place. When was offered a spot on the team of jack roush matt could not resist. In 2003 he won his first Winston cup championship. Many second place in the standings in the Busch series. I would recommend this book to younger readers. This is an easy read it's not long and has good organization. There are only 128 pages so you can finish it fast. I would recommend this more to someone who knows who matt Kenseth is or knows NASCAR a little bit. This book does not have hard words in it and is good for little kids. There may quotes from Kenseth himself and some other relatives and teammates of his. This book is taken place mostly in Cambridge Wisconsin where he grew up. It also traveled all over the country from track to track.
