Mike McQuay, My favorite sci fi pulp fiction writer...

No one seems to credit Mike McQuay with helping to forge the genre of cyber-punk, even though he basically set the template that was later used by Blade Runner and William Gibson with his Mathew Swain series, which predate all of those works mentioned.I have been a fan of McQuay's writings ever since I was 12 years old and his style has been hugely influential on my development as a writer. The bottom line is this: ALL of Mike McQuay's books are worth reading and the fact that you can buy used copies of his Mathew Swain series for PENNIES on-line should be enough to motivate you to grabup a few before i get them all--in which case you will have to wait until Christmas to recieve them as gifts. But seriously, folks, if I were trying to teach people how to write, I could do no better than to tell them to study Mcquay. He has a gritty, cynical, bracing humor and an incredibly deft touch with similies and metaphors. Good stuff.
