A Woman with a Purpose

MARY MCLEOD BETHUNE:JOURNEY TO FREEDOM,is a book I found inspirational. Bethune's life, chronicled by Amy Robin Jones,is one of breaking down barriers. Not content just to start her own school, this woman opened her own hospital for African Americans. Because of Mary, black reporters were finally admitted to the White House news briefings. Through her efforts, black women were finally allowed to serve in the WAC.Bethune's concern that black colleges offer pilot training was instrumental in black aviators being able to fly military airplanes in WW2.Reading about Bethune should inspire anyone to reach his/her full potential.
