I come from an evangelical Christian background and as soon as I didn't have to attend church...I didn't. The whole story of Jesus and salvation sounded stale and rigid...and a bit like science fiction. Since then, I've come to define my spirituality not by what others tell me, but rather by what I discover from within. The story contained within MARY MAGDALENE humanizes the life and teachings of this man Jesus in a way that makes the ideas of christianity more real and hopeful. Like CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD, I found that this book makes the idea of God larger and more loving and compassionate than ever. It's well written, easy to read and thought provoking. What if Jesus experienced life as a human...just like we are?
