Frank Moorhouse uses a chapter in his book "Forty-Seventeen" about a 40 year-old man mixing a martini for his 17 year-old lover to spin off a book about the author's love life and his love for the titular cocktail. Part history of the martini, part recipe book, part memoir, and part running dialogue on the drink with his martini-obsessed friend, V.I. Voltz, the book is unique in the annals of cocktail literature--although typical of Moorhouse's pastiche sort of book-making.
