Excellent book!

I have read this book about 4 times and each time I have read it I understand it a bit more. This is really an amazing book! I recommend it to people of ages 9 and up. Its about a girl name Mandie Shaw who's father had died recently and she thinks that god no longer loves her. Her mother doesn't seem to care because she married right after he died. Then Mandie was sent away to be a servant for a rich family. They were all cruel to her, not letting Mandie go to school or even to church. Soon she could not stand it anymore and ran away to her Uncle John's mansion with the help of her dear father's friend, Uncle Ned. But Mandie soon learns that Uncle John was away in Europe and had died there to. Now everyone is searching for the will, and people are visiting the mansion and saying they are related to him. I don't want to give away anymore, so you will have to read it to find out what happens. I like this book because Lois Gladys Leppard has written it so well that it feels like I am really Mandie. This author has also written about 40 books on the Mandie series. I have read numerous books written by her and all of them are excellent!

Best Book In The World

I thought this was an amazing book! When I went on the web site, I was even more amazed that the author wrote it when she was only eleven years old! I think every girl would like this book!

Fantastic Historical/Mystery Series for Children and Teens

The year is 1899, and eleven-year-old Mandie Shaw is absolutely heartbroken when her beloved Father passes away. She immediately begins feeling as if God no longer loves her, and to punish her, took her Father, the one person who really loved her, and whom she loved back, away from her. Soon her mean Mother, content with her new husband, and new life, and not wanting to pay to support Mandie any longer, sends her to live with a neighbor's family, where she is mistreated and used on a daily basis. Mandie's only solace from the trouble in her life is a promise from Uncle Ned, her dead Father's faithful Cherokee Indian friend, who looks out for her, and makes sure that he is always there for her, whenever she needs someone to talk to.Lois Gladys Leppard has created not only a Christian/Inspirational new book series for children and teenagers, but one that combines history, a fun mystery, and many different twists and turns in the plot. Mandie is an exciting character who you feel for from the very first page, until the very last one. She's strong, and intelligent, and just all around fun. Her friends, Uncle Ned, Joe, and Polly, provide her with a shoulder to lean on whenever she needs one, and make the story even more exciting. Whether you're looking for a good Christian/Inspirational series, or you just want to read an exciting historical mystery, MANDIE AND THE SECRET TUNNEL is the book for you. A must-have.Erika Sorocco

One of my favorite Mandie Books!

I love the Mandie Books, and this is the best one so far. It was this book that got me hooked. I have read it at least three times, even though it is a mystery. In this book, you meet Mandie Shaw, almost a teenager and certain that God no longer loves her. Her father dies, and she feels as if he was the only one who really loved her. Her mother remarries, and sends her to live with the Brysons, to take care of their baby. But they treat her horridly. She runs away with Uncle Ned, her old Indian friend. She goes to her Uncles house, and learns terible news. She searchs for a will, finds a secret tunnel, and discovers that God does love her. Something everyone needs to realize. If I could give this book more than five stars, I would. It is wonderful, whether you're 8 or 18, a boy or a girl.
