I felt the book was ok. If someone is looking for a book about soccer, how to play or a story about a soccer player this isnt it. But if you are looking to find out how a soccer club works, what goes on behind the tv than this is it. Mihir definately knows what he is talking about and has done an enormous amount of research to write this book. Even though it was well written, I found it to be a little dry at times which I did not find to apealing.

Manchester Unlimited

I really liked this book because i am a huge soccer fan! It was very informative and i learned a lot about Manchester United and the hardships the team faced. The success of Manchester United did not simply occur because they are a good soccer team. The manner in which they conducted their business and the way in which they were managed helped catapult the team to success. I feel that if a team's business is carefully managed and smart business decisions and ideas are brought forward, then the team will succeed as Manchester United has proven.

Sports and Business

I found this book to be very well written - the author is very thorough and has clearly spoken to all the major parties to this story. As a long time fan of Manchester United, it was great to get a book that focuses on how soccer has become such big business, and how this affects how the game is run. The book is unique for its treatment of Martin Edwards, the chief executive of Manchester. His actions and motives are spelled out in lots of detail. This book fills an hole in my personal library.

An interesting read for some.

This book tells the story of Manchester United, one of the most famous soccer clubs in the world. Much of the book is focused on the last couple years focusing on the BskyB bid to buy Man United and the tries at a "Super League" (especially the Media Partners proposal). The second section of the book is devoted to the history of the club, and, when applicable, English soccer history (e.g., the Heysel Disaster, Tottenham's flotation on the open market, etc.).I'm not sure this book would be very interesting for, 1) someone who knows a great deal about Man United, or 2) someone who knows nothing about Man United. It was perfect for me since I knew BskyB had bid to buy Man United and that a European "Super League" had been rumored. I think someone familiar with English soccer would know most of this book, and someone completely unfamiliar might struggle with names and such.Bose does attempt to give an unbiased opinion of Martin Edwards, in case anyone cares.Overall, I enjoyed the book. Not a literary masterpiece, but filled with information I was curious about and probably would have been hard pressed to find in the U.S.
